Co-founder
Katrina Her Many Horses
Katrina Her Many Horses, one of the co-founders of Oyate, was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She is a descendant of the Oglala Lakota, Cheyenne, Taos Pueblo Meskwaki and Leech Lake Ojibwe nations. In 2018, Katrina received her Associates degree in Business Management from United Tribes Technical College. In 2024, she then graduated from Haskell Indian Nations University with her Bachelor’s in Business Management. Katrina now resides in Lawrence, Kansas where she and her sister Star Her Many Horses are pursuing the growth and expansion of Oyate. She has been creating Indigenous art through beading and sewing since the age of 14. She looks forward to expanding her knowledge in different art mediums in the future and is grateful for her family’s teachings that has inspired the art she makes today.

Star Her Many Horses
Star Her Many Horses co-founder of Oyate also comes from the Oglala Lakota, Cheyenne, Taos Pueblo, Meskwaki and Leech Lake Ojibwe. Star obtained her Associates degree in Business from Hesston College and graduates from Haskell Indian Nations University with her Bachelor's in American Indian Studies in May of 2025. Star is an upcoming artist that enjoys exploring multiple mediums practiced by her nations. Her work included sewing, beadwork, shell work and more! In addition to Indigenous artistry she practices cultural revitalization efforts through food knowledge and aspires to learn her languages.
